Welcome to the 2026 spring summer opti green fleet sailing training with 9 coached sessions. (Sept 13 20 21, OCT 15 Nov 1, 8 15,29, Dec 13)

Junior sailing takes place on the international class Optimist dinghy. Georges River Sailing Club provides a structured learning and race environment for your sailor in Green, Intermediate, and Open classes.

Sailing is open to current members of the club. Parents and sailors must be members, and all parents are encouraged and expected to participate by volunteering to help on race days.

Our objectives

Provide the best and most enjoyable racing experience – our goal is to attract and retain sailors into each of our classes by providing a better overall sailing experience for our members than all other comparable clubs in Sydney

Provide a great learn to sail experience for youths – our goal is to provide a structured pathway for youths to learn to love sailing, develop their skills, be proud of and represent their club at regattas, and represent our long-term membership base.

Sunday mornings

08:45- Sailors arrive at club, rig boats ready to go
09.15 - Briefing
09:45 -  Training/Racing
11:30 - on water session finishes
11:45 - De-Brief/Finish


Program Focus:

The Intermediate Fleet Program includes scheduled and regular coaching. Allowing you to practice and race in club and class association programs at clubs.

At Intermediate Fleet level you may remain active- for-life, and enjoy lifelong activity which can cross multiple disciplines, and class of boat or board. 

During the Intermediate Fleet Program, there is continued freesail opportunity to support further enjoyment in the sport and environment.
