Tasar

At 4.5m length overall, the Tasar is a well-regarded performance dinghy. The light weight, low drag, planning hull, full battened jib & mainsail together with efficient sail controls provide exhilarating sailing without the need for a spinnaker or trapeze. Tasar sailing is open to all-gender, mixed-gender or diverse teams with both male and female helms. A well maintained Tasar is competitive for many years with spare parts readily available.

Why you should sail a Tasar at GRSC.

Whether a racer or just getting back into sailing the members of the Tasar fleet at GRSC will be supportive. Sailors become part of a community which the sees the sharing of information as foundational. Not only will the other Tasar sailors provide plenty of tips, GRSC also provides coaching opportunities during the season and sailors are always keen for training sessions outside race days.

Boats are rigged on the sand in front of the clubhouse, with easy launch off the beach and immediate access to the racing area. At the end of the day, there are plenty of hoses to wash the boats down. Whilst there is a waiting list, there is the possibility to store your Tasar in the clubhouse itself which makes those sneaky mid-week outings easy!

Tasar racing occurs on Sundays at GRSC with the first starting signal at 1pm. The races are conducted both on the Georges River in front of the GRSC clubhouse and out on Botany Bay. The sailing program is varied, from days that might see two races at 45 minutes each, days with up to six sprint races at 15 minutes each as well as the Botany Bay Cup that sees the fleet set off from a staggered beach start, sail a little distance up the Georges River then around Botany Bay, finishing in front of the club.

The GRSC carpark removes one of the hassles of sailing in Sydney and upstairs after racing, over a refreshment and snacks, there is time to discus the days sailing and socialize.
